It is hard to believe that it is already Advent, and even harder to slow down and enter into this period of reflection and anticipation. The liturgical season seems somewhat at odds with the rhythm of Australian life.
How many Christmas Eve’s of our lives have we felt like we have fallen over the line like an exhausted athlete?
In contrast, the season of Advent invites us to stop. We wait on God. We prepare the way by doing the one thing necessary. We attend to the presence of God where God has come to meet us.

"Preservation of the environment, promotion of sustainable development and particular attention to climate change are matters of grave concern for the entire human family. No nation or business sector can ignore the ethical implications present in all economic and social development."
Benedict XVI, Message to the 7th Symposium of Religion, Science & Environment Movement, 7 September 2007.
